for wanting to get rid of a perfectly fine and low mileage 4Runner for two potential project cars?
Yes, I probably am crazy enough to do it. It doesn’t help that my girlfriend keeps sending me pictures of 80s and 90s Lexus/Toyota’s and Miatas daily either.

“Girlfriend that sends you ‘80s & ‘90s Toyota & Lexus pics on the daily ” is also known as a “Keeper.” Pay attention to what she’s saying...
What kind of project cars are you considering?

Among normal folks you might be considered crazy for considering ditching a reliable SUV for two project cars. Here though, that’s perfectly normal, if not encouraged.

this is OPPO, we are enablers here.
and with two projects, 50/50 odds that one is working is higher than any odds that would ever be offered by a sports book.
do it do it do it.

Oh she’s definitely a keeper. She’s slowly become a gear head.
Well, I’ve been thinking about an NB Miata, mostly because I’ve wanted a convertible for ages and a Toyota Crown or Cressida. Really any RWD Toyota with an NA in-line 6 or v8 would be appealing.

NB Miata? Like this one, right?
I jest, I jest...
For RWD V8 Toyotas, there’s only one correct answer:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to...
Build one.
Find an old MR2 that “needs engine work” or “isn’t worth saving” and give it a new lease on life.
Full twin-turbo 1UZ V8, widebody, extended wheelbase. The works.
And chronicle it here on Oppo too for the rest of us :D

Happens to us all- especially when you have a reliable, do everything, start every time rig like a Toyota.. the Oppo on you misses diagnosing and swapping parts.
Can you not keep the 4R and start with one project?
Ps- currently there is a 94 Zoidberg fs here for $800;
I am being tested...

I believe the answer to your question is yes you’re crazy, and yes you need to do it!
I’m seriously considering selling my perfectly functional and reliable 2006 Silverado and using half of whatever I get for it to buy a 30+ year old truck to replace it. It’s no longer my daily driver so I don’t really need a fancy truck anymore.
I mean, with two projects there’s a decent chance one will start on any given morning; reliability via redundancy.

That’s tempting for 800.
I didn’t really need the 4Runner to begin with, it was kind of an impulse buy, that’s why I’m not so attached to it . I’ve got another Toyota pickup and Tundra that are reliable enough for DD duty.
